The Eco-poetry of a Borderlands Narrative: Reconsidering the Harrisons’ Lagoon Cycle
Summary: This talk, taking from Sheren’s forthcoming book "Whose Crisis? Visual Narratives in the U.S.-Mexico Borderlands", 1985-2025, proposes an alternative reading of The Lagoon Cycle through the lens of borders and migration.

Lyon's work captures the tenderness and complexity of human connection and the mother-experience through monumental figurative fragments in soft hues.

Embodied material knowledge or YouTube craft practice? This talk pulls at one thread of Chicana art to consider archives that hide in plain sight and how those archives situate Kira Dominguez Hultgren’s making practice through the lens of the U.S. Arts and Craft movement and Latinx art. The research for this talk was funded by a Center for Craft, Craft Research Fund Project Grant.
